Five Must Have Features for Real Estate Websites

I’m currently redesigning my website, so a few days ago, I was going through my portfolio, when I realized something common about all the real estate websites I’ve designed so far—

All their owners, my clients, are all pet lovers, and they all currently have or have had a pet!

The realization was so heartwarming for me, I knew I had to write a blog about it. I guess we really attract and are attracted to people who value the same things we do, whether in our professional or personal lives.

So, speaking of things we value, a few months ago, I made a post on my social media pages and started asking some of my friends and connections

“If they’re planning to buy a house in the near future, what do they want to see on their real estate agent/broker’s website before they decide that they’re buying from them?”

As a web designer for real estate, it is important for me that I’m able to incorporate the elements and functionalities that truly matter to people in my designs.

And I have a long list of responses, but today I want to share with you the top 5 features that I’ve found that people would like to see on real estate websites before they decide that they want to purchase from that agent, broker, or developer:

5. Free guides and helpful tips

Future home buyers are looking for tips and guides that would make it easier for them to decide if a property matches their needs.

If you’re a realtor, including this on your website is a win-win situation because it not only helps a potential client trust you more easily, but it also has a slew of other advantages, such as: 1) It helps set you apart from your competition and 2) It’s also good for your website’s search engine optimization, making it easier for more potential clients to find you.

Hans and Kristin are top East Bay, CA, real estate brokers and planners, and they regularly release new content on their website, including free downloadable guides, tips for home buyers and sellers, and market updates.

4. Neighborhood information

Providing detailed information about the neighborhood where properties are located, such as local amenities, schools, and transportation options, can help your potential buyers decide more easily.

3. User-friendly search tools

A website with user-friendly search tools that allow users to search for properties based on criteria such as location, price range, and number of bedrooms is essential. If there’s a way to filter results according to criteria such as price, potential buyers appreciate that as well.

The first thing you’re going to see when you go to Keller Williams Ortigas’ home page is an extensive property search function. This allows their page visitors to search for properties depending on their requirements for each of the parameters, which include cities, property type, status, property name or ID, minimum and maximum price, and minimum and maximum area, which must have made it easy for their 10,000+ clients to find what they’re looking for.

2. Reviews and testimonials

Buying a home is a significant decision, and potential buyers want to know that they can trust their agent or broker. Including reviews and testimonials on your website can help potential clients feel confident in their decision to work with you.

1. Detailed property listings

Potential buyers want access to every pertinent piece of information about a property, such as high-quality photos, floor plans, virtual tours, and a list of amenities. A well-designed website that provides all of this information can make the decision-making process easier for homebuyers.

Featured real estate website: Great Places PH’s Listings

All my clients’ websites feature detailed property listings, but there is one in particular that catches my eye—Great Places PH. From the artist’s perspective drawings to the photos to the video walkthroughs to the illustrations for the floor plans, everything is just so visually pleasing!

A well-designed website that has these features will definitely make the process of making a decision about buying a home and trusting someone to be their broker/agent easier for homebuyers.

Do you have anything you want to add to this list? Or are you a real estate broker or agent who needs help with their website?
